3175 | Town of Brownville Civil War Servicemen In 1865, NY State Bureau of Military Record required each town clerk to make a report of the service personnel serving in the Civil War from his town. The suggestions, reproduced below, explain the nature of each entry. The originals should be kept by each township, but some have disappeared over the years. Most of the towns of Jefferson County are recorded on microfilm at the New York State Archives. The Town of Brownville, from that microfilm, has been deciphered and committed to electronic data by Joan Bray, a volunteer who has done a marvelous job. More towns will be posted as they are processed.

3178 | Transcript of Death Certificate for Mary Fitzpatrick (Wood) Re: information on death certificate. From: Mary Smith Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 5:51 AM Paul: The information on the transcript is actually as it is in the records.I can not make any changes on records. What ever is in the records is what I provided. The State does not like us to issue xerox copies. They have to be typed on safety paper, even when they are for geneology purposes. The records showed Mary Fitzpatrick. Nothing on who her parents were. Mary C. Smith, RMC Town Clerk Town of LeRay -----Original Message----- From: Paul Kelly [mailto:pkelly@ca.astound.net] Sent: Friday, December 03, 2004 5:24 PM To: 'Mary Smith' Subject: RE: information on death certificate. Importance: High Mary, I have recieved the transcripts of the death certiifcates. Thanks for sending them, however, I was expecting actual xerox copies. Can you please send xerox copies? A question about Mary's death certiifcate: Did her death certificate show her name as Mary Wood or as Mary Fitzpatrick? This is why I would like actual copies of the original records, so I can be certain of the infomation contained in them. Sincerely, Paul Kelly
