Dear Yolanda,

Thanks for your email and for sharing your great find!

I am aware of the Petrie name. There were a few Petries who married into the Sixberry/Sixbury line (married siblings of my ancestor's children) of my family tree. I would be curious to know the full names/dates from the Petries in the bible. I have not heard of the other names.

Sincerely,

Paul Kelly

Subject: MARCH FAMILY BIBLE

Dear Mr. Kelly,

Several years ago I visited Watertown New York and bought an old bible in a sale at the Black River Library.

I had wondered if any family members of the March family to whom this bible appears to have belonged were still living. I was given your post on a Jefferson County web page and found some familiar names.

The Bible is small leather bound book "English Versoin of the Polygott Bible" dated 1832. That would make it a little over 170 years old if my math is right. The wonderful part about it is that it has some ink and pencil entries by what appears to be two persons listing the names and bith dates of the March family. Some of the names in the bible are as follows.

Jeremiah March, Betsy, Jane, Charles a Sally and a Louise
some surnames are March, Petrie, or Tetrie, and Jonson and Linsatruth as best that I can read them. Are these folks your family and could you tell me something about them?

I hope you can provide me with some information and I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your time.

Regards

384 (Research):Nancy, Margaret's sister married John Walts, Jr.
The 1860 Census shows Margaret (28) living with her parents and a 16 year-old boy named Grandison and a 2 month old female named Nilia. Grandison is Charles G. Van Brocklin (6 years old in 1850 census), son of Nicholas and Anna, brother to Margaret. Nilia appears to be Margaret's daughter. (from a previous marriage?). The 1870 census shows a Cornelia Walts living with the Biggers family as step-daughter to John Biggers, head of household. Is this "Cornelia Walts" who appears on Eva Biggers' death certificate?

Was Margaret Van Brocklin also married to a Walts, as her sister Nancy was? And if so, how many children dd she have from that marraige? Just one?
If Margaret was married to a Walts, he would most likely have come from the same family that her sister married into. Which one did she marry? When/where were they married?
Cornelia (step-daughter to John Biggers) is living with the family in 1880 census. She is 20 years old. Margaret is 48. If Cornelia is Margaeret's daughter from arevious marriage, them Margaret was previously married at 18 years old (1849).

It is also possible that Cornelia (VanBrocklin) was an illegitimate child.

I spoke to James R. Kelly, Jr. yesterday. He is now 86 years old, has a wife Noreen of many years (whom he takes care of at home). He has a sister who lives in Concord, California. He will be visiting his daughter in Vallejo soon and would like to meet me.

Conversation with James R. Kelly, Jr.

John McKinney was a brother to Catherine McKinney.

Their father was Frank Mckinney. Mother was Anne Barrett.

Lori and I visited Jim Kelly and his wife Noreen. He is a character! A great sense of humor and an avid genealogy buff, he has collected family history information for over 50 years! Being a Mormon (1952), he has complied approximately 800 LDS family trees (400 of his own family members).
According to Jim, while he was visiting Washington, D.C. in 1994 (doing family history research, of course!) he picked up the local newspaper. As he was reading, he came across Mema's obituary (Mary Arlene Jenkins). Some things in this world were not left to chance.
