Mrs. Katherine Walrath, wife of Henry Walrath and a lifelong and highly esteemed resident of Evans MIlls, died at her home in that village about 5:30 yesterday afternoon aged 85 years and 5 months. Mrs. Walrath was Miss Katherine Hoover, a daughter of Peter Hoover, one of the earliest settlers of Evans Mills, where she was born. She was married to Henry Walrath, who survives her, Dec. 25, (1838? 1833?), and they were probably one of the oldest if not the oldest couples in the county. Mrs. Walrath was a woman of high Christian character and a faithful member of the Evans Mills Baptist church. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. R. Martin, of Evans Mills, and Mrs. Fred Waddingham, of this city. One son, Rev. A. J. Walrath, pastor of the Baptist church at Penn Yan, died about a year ago. The funeral will be held from the late home of the deceased tomorrow afternoon at 3:30.
