"District Court News"
Suit for $50,000 damages was filed yesterday in the District Supreme Court by Harry I. Carroll, a plate printer in the employ of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, against his former associates on the executive board of the Washington Plate Printers' Union, Local No. 2. Libel is alleged. The defendants in the action are John J. Deviny, James H. Beck, Alfred H. Mills, Charlton B. Rout. Christopher Lemkuhl and Patrick J. Ryan. The plaintiff alleges that the defendants preferred written charges against him July 16 last to Samuel Gompers, John H. Ferguson and Jackson H. Ralston. As a result, the plaintiff declares, he was removed from the position of chairman and from membership of the executive board of the local and has suffered greatly in mind and has been injured in other ways. Attorrneys for the plaitiff are Charles W. Darr, Julis I. Peyser and Lawrence Koenigsberger.
