Killed By Shock
Clarence Sixbury Touched a Live Wire In Mansion House Cellar
Found Dead By The Steward, Who Had Sent The Man After Sugar - Muscles Of Left Forearm Severley Burned.
Clarence Sixbury, employed as a man of all work at the Mansion House, was almost instantly killed by coming in contact with a live wire in the cellar of the hotel shortly after 6 o'clock this morning. He caught the wire under his left forearm. The muscles of the arm were literally cooked where the wire had touched. His left side was also burned.
Sixbury had been employed at the Mansion House but two days. He went there from the Hotel Manhattan, where he had worked three years. This morning Steward Edward Clump of the Mansion House sent Sixbury to the cellar after some sugar. He was gone about a half an hour. The steward, becoming impatient because Sixbury did not show up with the sugar, went down to the cellar in search of him. On his way to the storeroom, he stumbled over Sixbury's body. He turned on the lights in the cellar and, reaching over, found that Sixbury was apparently dead. A physician was summoned and he said that life was extinct. The remains were removed to McCarthy's undertaking rooms and his wife, who is head waiter at the Hotel Manhattan, was notified.
Sixbury was 38 years old. The funeral arrangements have not been made.
