1808 13 Aug BIGGERS Henry
Since the oldest son William was born in 1808, we can make a reasonable assumption that Henry was alive one year prior to William's birth, since William's birth record states "s. Henry and Elizabeth". We also see that Elizabeth (his wife) died "r. of Henry" (r = "relict" or widow) on May 14, 1812. So we can surmise that Henry died some time between 1807 and May 13, 1812. And we find a death of a Henry Biggers Aug 13, 1808, just 10 days after William was born. Of course we cannot rule out the possibility that the deceased Henry was his son, Henry, who was born in 1801. Many children died at young ages during that time.

From everyone you have heard of the death of poor Charles Chavasse. We must
all lament the event, as he certainly was a very promising young man; to his
poor mother his loss was most severe and one I fear that she will long feel. I
heard from Mrs Pye Chavasse today, who much laments the death of her
mother, and speaks of it as the greatest trial she has ever experienced. She has
hitherto been fortunate. My mother-in-law is still living, as is her son Joseph,
who continues so great an invalid as seldom to leave his room. His poor wife I
pity, as she has no t only to nurse a sick Husband, but has the charge also of a
young family, having most years a Babe. His sister, Mrs Biggers, is a widow
with three children. Their good mother lives with her (13).

13. The Steede Family: Dr Richard Steede (d. 1802) lived in Winterbourne,
Glos., but the family seem to originate from Oxfordshire. Charlotte's invalid
brother-in-law, Joseph Steede, lived at Bampton, near Witney, Oxon., where he
died March 17th, 1817, aged 44. In his will, made in 1810, he pays tribute to his
wife, Hester, for her care and devotion during the long and severe illness he had
suffered. Elizabeth Steede, sister to Joseph and Richard, married at Chipping
Norton, October 13th, 1799, Henry Biggers. She was a widow by 1810.
