Philadelphia Woman Passes Away at 74 After Long Illness

Philadelphia, N.Y. Nov. 18 - Mrs. Malinda Fraley, widow of John Fraley, well known resident of this village, died at 11 Wednesday evening at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Acheson, in Philedelphia, following a long illness, aged 74 years. Mrs. Fraley had been in failing helath for several years but her condition had failed noticeably since the death of her husband, John Frale, April 15.
She was born in the town of Cape Vincent Jan. 3, 1846, daughter of the late Joseph and Almira Besha. The greater part of her life here had been spent in the vicinity of Philadelphia. She was a member of the Catholic church.
Surviving are one son, John W. Fraley of Sommerville, S.C.; and three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Acheson, with whom she resided, Mrs. Norman Timmerman of Lafargeville and Mrs Ernest Simmons of Carthage. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 Monday morning from the Acheson residence in this village and at 10 from the Philadelphia Catholic church. Interment will be in Carthage cemetery. D. E. Guilfoyle of the Guilfoyle Company, undertakers of Watertown has charge of the funeral arrangements.

Philadelphia Woman Passes Away at 74 After Long Illness

Philadelphia, N.Y. Nov. 18 - Mrs. Malinda Fraley, widow of John Fraley, well known resident of this village, died at 11 Wednesday evening at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Acheson, in Philedelphia, following a long illness, aged 74 years. Mrs. Fraley had been in failing helath for several years but her condition had failed noticeably since the death of her husband, John Frale, April 15.
She was born in the town of Cape Vincent Jan. 3, 1846, daughter of the late Joseph and Almira Besha. The greater part of her life here had been spent in the vicinity of Philadelphia. She was a member of the Catholic church.
Surviving are one son, John W. Fraley of Sommerville, S.C.; and three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Acheson, with whom she resided, Mrs. Norman Timmerman of Lafargeville and Mrs Ernest Simmons of Carthage. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 Monday morning from the Acheson residence in this village and at 10 from the Philadelphia Catholic church. Interment will be in Carthage cemetery. D. E. Guilfoyle of the Guilfoyle Company, undertakers of Watertown has charge of the funeral arrangements.

Joseph V. Bisha came from France to his country in 1828, at that time being 13 years of age. In 1841 he married Almira, daughter of Robert Sixbury, and followed the occupation of farming on road 8, where they remained 16 years. They then removed to Pleasant Valley, in the town of Cape Vincent, remaining there five years, when they returned to this town and purchased a farm on road 35. During the next 19 years they resided in several different places, finally returing to the farm on road 35, where Mr. Bisha died November 24, 1883. Their children were Mary V., Sarah J., Malinda, Louis J., Charles E., Ferdinand A., Julia A., Peter J., George A., and William M. The latter resides with his mother on the old homestead.

Philadelphia, N.Y. April 16
John Fraley, well known resident of Philadelphia, died at 4 Thursday afternoon at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Acheson in Main Street this village, following a long illness, aged 77 years, two months and seven days. Mr. Fraley had been in failing health during the past three years and had been critically ill during the past month.
The funeral will be held at 10 Monday morning from Philadelphia Catholic church. Rev. Father Hollis Burns, pastor of Lafargeville Catholic church, and former assistant at St. Patrick's church, Watertown, officiating. Interment will be in Carthage cemetery.
He was one of the older residents of this village and had resided here during the past 17 years. He moved from his farm on Galway street into a house which he purchased in Antwerp street where they resided 15 years. In October , 1918, he and his wife, on account of ill health moved from Antwerp street to the residence of their daughter, Mrs. Acheson, where he passed away Thursday afternoon.
Mr Fraley was born in the town of Cape Vincent, son of Jacob and Kathryn Slick Fraley, natives of Germany, Feb. 8, 1843. He married Miss Malinda Besha, Feb. 8, 1870. For 21 years they lived on a farm on Galway street in the town of Leray, New Evans MIlls, before moving to Philadelphia.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Malinda Besha Fraley, he leaves one son, John W. Fraley of Summerville, South Carolina; and three daughters, Mrs. Norman Timmermanof Lafargeville, MRs. Ernest Simmons of Carthage, and Mrs. Clarence Acheson of this village, with whom he made his home.
D.E. Gullfoyle of the Gullfoyle company, Watertown, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
