AnnualReport of St. Stephen's Church-Many Grip Patients-Mrs. Priscilla Virkler Purchases Bush Residence-Death of Louis V. Besha, an Old and Esteemed Resident, at the Age of 84 years.

Louis V. Besha, aged 84 years, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of this place, passed away Friday evening at his home here, following a week's illness of pneumonia. Deceased was born in Evans Mills, August 22, 1839, and was the son of John and Julia Besha. In 1868 he was united in marriage with Mary Simmonet, who passed away in 1874. In 1875 Mr. Besha married Mary Janet O'Reiley. From 1868 to 1875 the deceased conducted a hotel at Evans Mills. After his second marraige he reomved to Belfort and built the hotel there, later going to Long Level, where he lumbered extensively. In 1890 Mr. and Mrs. Besha came to Croghan to reside and built a large hotel, which was destroyed in the big fire of 1912. Since 1912 Mr Besha has lived a retired life at his residence on North Main Street. Surviving , besides his wife, are three sons and one daughter by his first marriage, Milton Besha and Mrs. Edward H. Radigan, of this place; John Besha, of Carthage, and William Besha of San Francisco; and four daughters and one son by his second marriage, Mrs. Clement Gunert, Misses Frances and Rose Besha, of this place; Mrs. Vernon Moore, of Copenhagen, and Louis V. Besha, of Vancouver, B. C.; also three brothers, Joseph Besha, Brownville; Peter Besha, Evans Mills; Frank Besha, Richland; two sisters, Mrs. Cecilia Branch, Albany, and Mrs, Julia Branch, Richland. The funeral was held from St. Stephen's church Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and was largely attended, Rev. Father Antonius Buch officiating. Interment tookplace in the family plot in St. Stephen's cemetery.
