Text | Emma Biggers Dead at Age 101 Mrs. Emma Louise Ainsworth Biggers, 101, formerly of the Perch Lake Road, widow of Arthur Biggers, died this morning at 1 in the Madonna Home, where she had resided since April, 1972. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 am at the Reed and Benoit Funeral Home, with Reverend Wilbert Bertrim, pastor of the Standard Church of Watertown, officiating. Spring burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery. There will be no calling. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Olsson, Perch Lake Road; four sons, Calvin, San Mateo, Fla., Albert, Ogdensburg, Paul, Floral drive, and Irving, Perch Lake Road; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Florence Bedell, died July 28, 1966. Mrs. Biggers was born Sept. 5, 1875, at Felts Mills, a daughter of Calvin and Ideal Hunt Ainsworth. Her grandfather, Albert Ainsworth, lived to be 95 years old and her great-grandfather, Jonathan Ainsworth, lived to the age of 98. She married Arthur Biggers in 1894. The couple spent thier early married life on farms in the town of Pamelia and then moved to the Perch Lake Road in 1905. Mr. Biggers operated a farm, was a bee keeper and was a poultry breeder. He died March 18, 1953, at the age of 81. | |
