    Text Ross F. Webert, 87 a retired contractor, died at his 115 St. Mary St. home at 5:45 p.m. Friday following a brief illness.

    The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Reed and Benoit Funeral Home, Rev. John Campbell, pastor of the Concordia Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery.
    Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
    A Masonic service will be conducted Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home by the Watertown Lodge F&AM 49.
    Contributions in his name may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Concordia Lutheran Church.
    Surviving are a son, Gerald L., Watertown; a daughter Mrs. Jack (Shirley) Starns, Watertown; three brothers, Harry W. and Carl F. of Watertown, and G. Leo, St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Louise Ganter, Watertown; five granchildren and a great-grandson.
    A sister, Mrs. Grace Pound, died in 1973.
    Born Aug. 16, 1894, in Sand Bay, the son of Frank and Anna Schafer Webert, he attended schools in Sand Bay and Perch River.
    Mr. Webert worked for the Town of Pamelia before his Feb. 22, 1920 marriage to Christianna Mexdorf. Mrs. Webert died Aug. 17, 1980 in Watertown.
    The couple operated the family farm at Knowlesville and later farmed near Evans Mills.
    The Weberts moved to Watertown in 1927. Mr. Webert worked for the Dunnman Real Estate Co. until 1933 when he began his own contracting business.
    He was a World War I Army veteran. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, Pamelia Grange, Evans Mills and Watertown Odd fellows lodges, the Watertown Masonic Lodge, Northside Improvement League and the Greater Watertown Senior Citizens Association.
