  Text	Copy Peter Reff Declaration Filed March 1, 1842 Clerks Office Lewis County, NY I Charles Orvis, Clerk of said county do hereby certify that I have composed the within copy of an affidavit with the original now on file in this office; and that the said copy is a correct transcript of the said original affidavit, and of the whole of said original. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my hand and affixed my seal of office this 8th day of September, 1841. C. Orvis, Clerk State of New York Lewis County I, Peter Reff, being sworn before Carlos P. Scovil, Clerk of the Court of common pleas of said County; saith that he was born in France, that he is of the age of forty eight years, that he owes allegiance to the King of France, that he emigrated from the Port of Havre de Grace to the town of Turin in the State of New York on or about the 4th May 1834, that he now resides in said town where he has settled and intends to reside, & that it is bona fide this intention of this deponent to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce forever all allegiance & fidelity to any and every foreign power, potentate state & sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to the King of France. his Peter X Reff mark Subscribed and sworn this 22 day of September 1834. before me Carlos P.
