Text | State of New York Jefferson County Be it remembered that on this third day of December in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty three at a Court of Common Pleas holden in & for the County of Jefferson aforesaid Francis Bisha personally appeared in open court & being duly sworn doth depose & say & declare that he is the age of fifty years that he was born in Vesoul a town in the Department of Upper Saone France and that he owes allegiance to the King of France. That he emigrated to the United States and settled in the State of New York in the County of Jefferson aforesaid on or about the first day of July one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight and that he now resides and is intending to reside in the United States. And the said Francis Bisha doth further depose & declare that it is bonafide and absolutely his intention to become a citizen of the United State and to renounce forever all allegiance & fidelity to any foreign prince potentate state or soverigenty whatever and particularly to the King of France X and this deponent further saith not. Francois Bichet Sworn & subscribed in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty three before me in open Court [opposite side] State of New York Jefferson County John B. Bo_______? and Louis Rolfe? of the County aforesaid being sworn in open Court do depose each for himself and says that he has been acquainted with Claude Francis Bichet for more than five years that said Bichet has resided within the United States at least five years and within the said state at least one year, that he has behaved as a man of good character and attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States and disposed to the good order & happiness of the same. Bouchard, Clerk State of New York Jefferson County I Claude Francis Bichet do swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and that I do for ever renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign power, prince or sovereignty whatever particularly all allegiance and fidelity to the King of France to whom I owed allegiance.
