Hello,

My name is Paul Kelly. I have been conducting my family history research for more than 30 years.

I was quite disappointed to discover that this item had already been purchased (by yourself):
http://www.delcampe.net/page/item/id,246753567,var,70-Haute-Saone--Champagney-Ronchamp-inteacute;ressante-lettre-posteacute;e-de-Philadelphie-Etats-unis-1827-,language,E.html

From the description of this letter, I think it contains the names of two of my ancestors: (Jacque Bichet and Marie Angelique Poivey).

I would very much like to have a digital copy of this letter.

Would you be so kind as to provide it to me? I would be very grateful to you if you did this.

Subject: LeRay

Paul,
I have a scan of a pamphlet about towns & their origins from the genealogy dept. of the Flower Memorial Library that I got from Bill Freeman. It says the origin of LeRay was Brownville (1806) and the original of Brownville was Leyden (1802).

The Town of Leyden was established March 10, 1797 according to this website: http://www.towpathinn.com/history.htm

Hope that helps. I learned a lot researching this question. :)

Subject: RE: Tithe map of Witney? - our ref. 11475

Ref: 14.2.P/RH/4561

Dear Mr Kelly

Thank you for your enquiry concerning the Witney Tithe map.

We hold the original Witney tithe map and it is dated (very clearly, I'm glad to say!) 1840 (ref: 436). The map, of which you have a scan, is also held here and is a certified copy with a tithe commission stamp in the top right hand corner dated 4 August 1841 (ref: Misc. Witney I/i/2). The hand written date is therefore, presumably,1841 but quite why they changed it from 1840 when the map is meant to be a true copy of the original I really don't know.

We also hold the tithe apportionment which will give the location of John Biggers's property. Unfortunately the apportionment is too large to scan. We can transcribe his entry for you if you would like us to do so but will have to charge a research fee of ?12.50 to cover 1/2 hour's research time. If you would like us to proceed, please write to the address below and enclose a STERLING cheque made payable to 'Oxfordshire County Council'. Thank you.

Subject: October 31, 1842

Dear Sirs,

I have just completed an online search for my 6 immigrant ancestors who arrived in New York City on October 31, 1842. The original Port of Departure was London. However, the online database (Ancestry.com) did not list a ship name. According to this online database, 127 other passengers arrived on the same day, so I am assuming that these other passengers were also aboard this same ship.

The original passenger list microfilm (NARA M237 - roll 51) does not show a ship name either (I checked.)

How can I find the name of the ship?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Paul F. Kelly

Hello,

I am looking for a copy of a marriage record for my 2nd great grandfather (Robert C. Jenkins) and 2nd great grandmother (Martha Ann Johnson).
I attach a copy of the 1870 census (Port Tobacco PO Box, Charles County) where they both appear. Their son, J. B. (James Bradley Jenkins) is enumerated as well (1 year old).
Based on this information, I think it may be safe to assume that Robert Jenkins and Martha Ann Johnson were married between 1865 and 1870 in Charles County. Do your records contain a record of such a marriage? If so, I would be happy to send a SASE and check for copy of same.
If your office does not have this marriage record, perhaps you might provide an alternative source for me to follow up on?

Your assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Subject: Cornelia Walts birth record

Hello,

I am looking for a birth record of one of my ancestors: Cornelia Walts. She was born in June of 1860, Alexandria, Jefferson County, New York.
I believe her mother's name was Margaret Van Brocklin. I do not know the father's name, but his surname was Walts.
Does your office have birth records for that time period?
If not, what is the closest Catholic parish in Alexandria to check their birth registers?

Please advise.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Paul F. Kelly

Sorry I can't help you. My cousin, Jackie Fraley Kucharski and her husband stayed with us for a few days on their way down to the Keys. She brought some old pictures with her. On the back of the picture it said "Fraley Farm 1933". There is a woman standing beside my grandmother Genevieve Fraley and Jackie told me it was Aunt Madeline. She said every time their Family would drive to Cape Vincent from Ohio to visit Gram & Gramps, they would stay at Fraley's Cabins in Clayton NY with Aunt Madeline. They didn' stay in a cabin but in Aunt Madeline's house. I guess she rented out rooms in her house also. In a letter that my Aunt Genevieve sent to me in 1973 regarding ancestry, she said Christopher Fraley married Maddie Besche. I know she misspelled her last name but I thought she could perhaps be your g-grandmother. I've sent the picture to my brother in Michigan who is 13 years older then me and my sister in CA who is 10 years older then me and asked them if they knew the people in the picure. I'll let you know what I find out. There are also a man in a straw hat and an old couple in the picture and also a blond woman. There are pictures of my Price cousins ranging in age from 9 to 2.

Sorry I can't give you more info Regards, now

Hi.
As you know, I don't know who all of the people in this picture are. Maybe you will recognize someone, The only thing that's written on the back of the picture is "Fraley Farm 1933".I think some of the adults might be: from L to R Edward Fraley 25 yrs. old, Joseph Price, husband of Genevieve Fraley, Genevieve Fraley, wife of Francis (Frank) Fraley, Aunt Madeline, Blond woman? man in straw hat? Old woman & man?

all of the kids are children of Joe Price and Genevieve Fraley Price: L tp R Beatrice Price age 7. Richard Price age 9, Francis Price, age 8. George Price, age 6, and the little guy in the front is Tommy Price, age 2.

Do you recognize any of the people from your family? I'll give you whatever info I get from my brother & sister,

Regards,

Paul,

Unfortunately we've done very little work in Glenwood and won't be back in
cemeteries until next spring. We've added your request to our search list
and will attempt to obtain a photo once we're able to get into the cemetery.

Best regards,
Sid & Bonnie

I\'m hoping you can help me locate the headstone of my great uncle, Paul
Webert. I am almost certain that he is buried next to other Webert family
members in Glenwood Cemetery, Watertown New York. Paul Webert was born about
1903 (in LeRay) and died sometime between 1920 and 1930.

490 1 child in 1918 Besha, Ferdinand A. (I123)

491 1) Possible immigration to Baltimore, Md. on
Aug. 31, 1839, from Brem(en)?

2) Possible 1840 census location.

Emmert, Henry (I10319)

492 1. According to Guy Leo WEBERT, Caroline WEBERT never married.

2. Caroline Webert was the informant on Anthony webert's Death Certificate.
Webert, Eva Karoline (I60)

493 1. E-mail from David M. Wade, August 15, 1997:
"Marcus Schell's Father was Johnannes Schell arrived port of Philadelpia
1732 or 1752 /
Mother was Barbara Raspach.
( I found a ship listing some years ago 10th Oct 1752 Phil.,
Tuesday Ship " FOREST" Capt. Patrick Auchterlony from Rotterdam /
Maybe??? )"

2. (John Schell came to Philadelphia in 1752) (RDH:248)
Immigration Surety:3
Schell, Johannes (I483)

494 1. sent email to Mary asking if copy of death certificate is in her office Besha, Ferdinand A. (I123)

495 1. This passenger list states the 'Native Country' for 'Antonin Weber' was Bohemia. I place reasonable doubt that he came from Bohemia. A reasonable assumption might be that Antonin may have lied about his place of origin and also may have lied about his age.
2. His citizenship papers state the following:
"Came to U.S. before he was eighteen" and "that he emigratied to the United States and landed at the port of New York on or about the 15th day of Nov., 1892." This is puzzling, since the passnger list for the S.S. Lahn clearly shows that he arrived after this date. Since Anthony did not apply for citizenship until several years later, he may have simply forgotten the emigration date, however the date is quite specific.
3. To support item 2 above, we find the following in a Watertwon Daily Times newspaper obituary (1939) for Anthony Webert: "He came to this country with his mother about 53 years ago, his father having died in Germany, and the family lived first in the town of Clayton." That would make his year of arrival in N.Y. 1886, which doesn't correspond with either the the passenger list information or his naturalization papers. However, the fact that this obituary says "He came to this country with his mother" corroborates with the fact that we see a name very close to his on the passenger list and that Elisab. Webert and her daughter Karolina (Caroline) appears very close to him in the list. This is convincing evidence that the passenger list is correct and that it is in fact Anthony Webert who is referred to as 'Antonin Weber' in the pasennger list.
4. A Tomas Weber appears next to Antonin and is also 18 years old. I have no idea who Tomas Weber is. Perhaps he was a brother or a cousin?
I do not know of a Tomas Weber in Jefferson County, N.Y., unless I am missing something.

496 1. write a letter to St. Mary's cemetery regarding death record of Almira Besha (Sixbury). Almira would have died after 1890, since she appeared as a 'widow of Joseph' in CHILD'S BUSINESS DIRECTORY which was published in 1890.
'Bisha, Almira, (Evans Mills) r 35, widow of Joseph.'
Jospeh died in November, 1883.

Sixbury, Almira (I130)

497 1. Write a letter to the Town Clerk of LeRay, asking for copies of death certificates for Mary Wood and John Fitzpatrick. Letter mailed 11/8/2004.
2. Wrote another letter enclosing fees for the copies of both death certificates (Mary Wood and John Fitzpatrick).

498 1. write email to Mary C. Smith, Town Clerk, inquire as to death certificate Bichet, Joseph Victor (I129)
